Ahoy, mateys! Arrrrgggghhhh you ready for some swashbucklin’ fun? One of me favorite nights on a Disney voyage (Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries) is Pirate Night. This is when buccaneers of all ages, including crew members spend the evening like a pirate. Thus they leave their landlubber life behind, get dressed up in their inner buccaneer’s best, have pirate-themed meals, talk like a pirate, and learn the pirate jig on the Buccaneer Blast and Club Pirate deck parrrrties.
But, don’t worry if ye don’t have pirate attire. Ye can purchase some on the ship or simply wear the complimentary bandana Disney Cruise Line places in your cabins when they turn up your room for the day. The best time to purchase your pirate booty (eye patch, dangling gold and bronze, and ruffled shirts) at home is just after Halloween when costumes go on sale. Just remember to keep it family-friendly! Shiver me timbers! You are on a Disney cruise after all!
A Pirates Life For Me!
1. Enjoy Pirate Night on Bahamas and Caribbean Sailings
Pirate Night occurs on all Bahamas and Caribbean voyages, but occasionally, the weather can put a damper on things. So, keep a weather-eye on the sky! Even high winds can squash the outdoor pirate fun, but never fear, there will be indoor activities you can participate in as well.

2. Pirate Night Usually Occurs on Nassau or Castaway Cay Days
If you are in Nassau or on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, more than likely it will be your Pirate Night. After all, it is “Pirates IN the Caribbean”, so it only makes sense to be IN the Caribbean! So, check your navigator for your pirate night day.
3. Pirate festivities are all day!
The festivities start early in the day with pirate games and trivia throughout the ship as well as in the youth and teen clubs. Also, there are character interactions throughout the ship throughout the day.
Peter Pan asks my daughter to scare Captain Hook later then gives her a dance lesson.
4. Get dressed early!
You will want to get dressed up early in order to make the most of your Pirate Night! Characters are in pirate attire, so be sure to grab some photos with Buccaneer Mickey Mouse and his crew. Usually, character lines are not too long and are located throughout the ship, so you will want to check your Navigator for character appearance times and locations.
TIP: On Pirate Night, Captain Jack Sparrow’s line tends to be the longest, therefore, be sure to get in line early. Because he has to make it to his show on time, he is usually not out long. He usually meets in Preludes or Animator’s Palate, however, you will need to check your navigator for specific meeting places.
5. Pirate-themed food…yummy!
Dining on Pirate Night can be undeniable, quite the experience! For example, you can eat like a scalawag with pirate-themed menus in restaurants. Furthermore, the menus resemble old treasure maps, which is pretty cool. Also, your wait staff will speak in pirate-lingo and even dress the part. Pirate Night dinners include options such as Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad or Pirates Gold-en Pot Stickers or even Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup (menu offerings subject to change). Obviously, there will be a lot to choose from, so order one of everything! But, if you know me, you will know my favorite appetizer is the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Salad! Third, there might be some type of pirate shenanigans that go on during your dinner-time. In addition to serving your meals, your wait staff might perform magic tricks or tell pirate jokes.
TIP: The chocolate coins at Guest Services (gold coins) are FREE! So, look for the stuffed Disney characters hanging out at the Guest Services Desk and grab yourself some tasty loot!

5. Pose for the Photographers and give them a big, “Argh!”
Photographers will be in the dining room taking photos of your family, so give them your best pirate grin! Have fun with them because you will want to remember your buccaneer looks! These photos are from different cruises on Pirate Night, so you can see we have multiple costumes to choose from.
6. Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party and Fireworks are a blast!
Undoubtedly, one of my favorite parts of Pirate Night takes place on the pool decks, and is called, “Pirates in the Caribbean” Deck Party. Besides being able to interact with all the pirate characters, there are amazing events that take place throughout the night. Obviously, the Buccaneer Blast, which is an interactive deck show with fireworks, is one event you cannot miss. Then, following the fireworks is Club Pirate. During the Buccaneer Blast, Captain Jack Sparrow is searching for his golden gauntlet. There is even an incredible, heart-stopping surprise during the show. So, find a spot to enjoy the show Mid-ship and port-side. Doing so will ensure you have the best view of the spectacular event! So, get there early to get a great spot!
This was our first Disney cruise (2009). We didn't know to bring pirate gear, but we still had a great time!
7. Club Pirate is a high-energy dance party that takes place on the deck after the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks

The final leg of the eventful day is Club Pirate, which is a dance club on the deck following the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks. You and your family can dance the night away with your favorite pirates, while Cast members come out and interact with the crowd.
8. Save room for the late-night buffet
There usually is a pirate buffet in Cabanas after the fireworks with a smorgasbord of late-night eats such as giant turkey legs, bread, and sweet desserts. This is great for those with early dinner, but if you are one of those with late dinner seating, you might want to save a little room for these delicious eats. However, you might not be hungry, therefore I suggest at least taking a gander through Cabanas to see the works of art made from the bread and fruits.
9. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Buccaneer Costume
It’s Pirate Night and you just realized you didn’t bring a costume with you. Don’t worry, you can still enjoy the festivities because Disney Cruise Line gives each guest a bandana you can tie on for some extra pirate flair. If you want to purchase pirate attire, there are some accessories and costumes in the shops on the ship, however, you cannot purchase them when the ship is in port. Even though Nassau has a rich pirate history, the port is very limited on pirate attire in their shops. That being said, you can visit the Pirates of Nassau Interactive Museum to still learn about the history of Pirates in the Bahamas and purchase some pirate-themed souvenirs.
10. Schedule a pirate make-over in the Pirates League
Adults and kids can make appointments in the Pirates League (also known as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on non-Pirate-night days) to get decked out as a swashbuckling pirates. Pssst…don’t mention princesses while getting your make-over (or maybe do…it’s quite entertaining).

Hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. Appointments may be scheduled between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Embarkation day and between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM on all other days of your cruise, except Pirate Party Night. On Pirate Party Night, appointments for The Pirates League may be scheduled between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM.
