Cozumel, Mexico and Nachi Cocom Beach Break (Day 3 of 4)
By the time my alarm went off at 7:30, we were docked in Cozumel, Mexico! Our room was port-side, so I spent a few minutes waking up on our balcony. The weather looked amazing! We all ate breakfast together in Minstrels and headed out to the gangway for our excursion at Nachi Cocom.

It’s worth a balcony room to wake to this!
When we disembarked, there were pretty women in Mexican dresses who greeted us as we stepped off the ship into Cozumel.
As we walked through the market, I spotted a Day of the Dead shirt I had to have, so I bought it on our return trip. I loved all the colorful Day of the Dead candy skulls.
Heading to Nachi Cocom
It didn’t take long before we found a taxi that would transport us to the excursion at Nachi Cocom. Luckily, it was a quick ride (under a half-hour). Unfortunately, our driver didn’t speak English well enough where we could have conversations with him. We paid about $26/vehicle and ended up in two vehicles, however, on the way back it was $53 and we all fit into one van.
When you are at Nachi Cocom, tell them what time you want to leave and they will arrange your transportation. While we were on our way to Nachi Cocom, we passed all the other excursion beaches like Playa del Mia, Mr. Sanchos, and others. Nachi Cocom was down a little further. When we arrived, there was a lady who greeted us, took our photo with sombreros, and got us signed in.
TIP: Print your reservation information and bring it with you! Our friends did not bring it with them and it took over an hour to find their reservations, but we were all allowed to get started on our day while the staff looked it up. Therefore, print everything and bring it with you.
Costs for Nachi Cocom
Nachi Cocum cost us $55/person over the age of 12 and $39 for younger kids. I believe kids under two are free (but I’ll double-check). One great thing about Nachi Cocom is that they allow only 130 patrons per day. The website says “all-inclusive” but it’s really not. Water sports cost more. I did paddle boarding for the first time and paid $35 for an hour and tipped my guide $10.
Food at the Resort
The food was amazing! But, apparently, you can only order two main entrees per person. (This is not mentioned anywhere in the documents or on the menu). We had 10 people, so that would have been 20 entrees. But, we were nowhere near that, so it seemed they were just tired of taking our order. The drinks were weak, however, the appetizers were so good! I’m not a fan of guacamole, but it seems to be a favorite among our group. My favorite was the shrimp. Here is some of the amazing food we had.
Activities at Nachi Cocom
While paddle-boarding, I was able to see large orange starfish, small reefs, and cowfish homes. Surprisingly, I did not fall off once! My daughter gave it a try and fell off when some wakes from a nearby boat reached her, so she gave up. It wasn’t as hard as I was told it would be. I really enjoyed it and found it extremely relaxing.
While I was paddleboarding, the others enjoyed time in the water, laying on a raft, digging in the sand, sipping some juice (or drinks for those of us who were old enough), or attempting to open a coconut with a fork (for hours).
There was plenty of shaded areas, comfortable lounges, a large pool, and dressing areas. All the facilities were clean. The staff was friendly, but not overly friendly. They were not pushy like you would see at other beach resorts.
I definitely recommend this excursion! Just be aware, it is not a ship-sponsored excursion, so you are responsible for your own transportation to and from the resort. Don’t be late for the ship because the captain will not wait for you!
Tip: Just remember…you are on Mexico time and the ship is on ship time! Mexico is an hour behind!
Heading Back to the Ship
After our excursion, we headed back in time to do a little shopping. I am a fan of Day of the Dead, so I bought the white t-shirt in a previous photo. Then it started to rain so we went back to the ship.
Back on the Ship
It felt good to be back on the ship! We knew we were not going to get left at the port, which is always a concern when taking excursions that are not with the cruise line directly. As soon as we got back on the ship, we all took showers and got ready for dinner, which was fun. Our waiter did more tricks and riddles to keep us entertained while we waited on our food to arrive. Harry and Tony ordered a minimum of three entrees a night to try.
There was a performance in the restaurant. The wait staff sang us a song on the main staircase in the restaurant.
Unfortunately, this was the only night we got a towel animal, which was sad since that is something I look forward to each cruise. I couldn’t even tell what it was; maybe a crab or spider?
For the nighttime entertainment, Harry, Tony, Emily, London and myself watched “Almost Elton John”. He is an act that plays tribute to Elton John songs, dresses the part in high clogs, sparkly outfits, and all! You can find him on Facebook here. It was a highly energetic show and I recommend this show as a “must do.”
End of a Great Day
After the show, we called it a night! It was sad to think there was only one more night of our vacation. Our fourth and final day was a day at sea. So far, it was smooth sailing!
